Unicorn Inn

On moving back to Kincardine last year we were pleased to see The Unicorn Inn was now a restaurant, just what the village needed, we thought. Then we read the reviews, written prior to new owners taking over, and thought we might not bother. Recently however, very tired straight from work one evening we decided to see for ourselves what it was like, and were absolutely delighted. The food was obviously expertly prepared and presented, the atmosphere was very relaxing and welcoming, we were very glad we had taken the chance. To be truly critical, we would have liked more vegetables with our main courses.

We ate there again on February 14th, surely one of the busiest nights of the year and again we were not disappointed, champagne on arrival and a log fire set the ambience - an excellent welcome. The staff were very attentive without being intrusive, and the food was flavoursome and beautifully presented. It is hard to believe that a restaurant of this quality is on our doorstep. We would have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant.

I recently ate at the Unicorn and was incredibly pleased with the food, the service and the general atmosphere of the restaurant.I found that the staff were well informed and found them extremely helpful when I asked for a recommendation on the wine list. The barman showed that clearly, he wasn't picking the first wine he saw but was making an informed decision based on my choice of meal, and also showing that he had good knowledge of the wines served.

When our food arrived, my first thought was the presentation! It was wonderfully presented. I couldn't wait to tuck in, and the taste did not disappoint. I found that this meal was very reasonably priced based on the quality of food served.

I also found the owner to be delightful! She seems to have a wonderful charm and makes all the guests feel welcome. Overall, a very good find and a restaurant I will be returning to and recommending to others.
