Union Cafe & Restaurant
96 Marylebone Lane, London, W1U 2QA
Union Café is situated in Marylebone Lane, very close to the fashionable shops on Marylebone High Street and within walking distance of Bond Street tube station. It is a modern, lively and bright Californian-style restaurant with large windows and an open-plan kitchen so you can watch the chefs at work. The stripped wooden floor, tables and chairs give a smart but casual feel. The food is delicious - contemporary British food with a Mediterranean slant, including seared tuna carpaccio, crab cakes and roast rack of lamb. It is extremely buzzy at lunchtime and more laid-back in the evening; it is also fully air-conditioned. As you might expect of owner John Brinkley, there is an interesting wine list with plenty of old and new world choices at incredibly reasonable prices.Union Café is situated in Marylebone Lane, very close to the fashionable shops on Marylebone High Street and within walking distance of Bond Street tube station. As you might expect of owner John Brinkley, there is an interesting wine list with plenty of old and new world choices at incredibly reasonable prices. They are all sold at retail shop prices, not the usual restaurant ones; they start at £12 per bottle for Mâcon Blanc Villages and Cotes du Rhone.

REVIEWS OF Union Cafe & Restaurant
Jamie Randall (19 October 2005)
Union Cafe has excellent food but shockingly rude service. I spent a pleasant early-evening meal there with friends on a Wednesday night. The food was excellent - I had roast duck for starter and rare seared tuna for main, both of which were tasty and well-executed.
However, throughout the evening I was forced to battle with incompetent and rude waiting staff. This culminated in being asked to leave very soon after paying because the restaurant had foolishly already booked the table for another party. I understand the pressure for tables in London but having passed less than two hours in the place and spent around £45 per head I felt insulted. I can no longer recommend this venue.
