We've eaten twice now at Upper Rectory and both times it has been wonderful. Steve & Kerry work very hard to make sure that their diners have a good evening. The food was excellent both times, including some delicious veggie options! The portions are exceptionally generous and the menu is fantastic value for money. Countering a previous comment on here, two of our party had steaks on saturday evening and thought they were very good. And both evenings we came home feeling we had "an experience" and not just a meal out! Thank you to Steve & Kerry for coming to Berriew!

I was very surprised to see the review from Andy Mason. I dined at The Upper Rectory on the very same night as Mr Mason, and my experience could not have been more different. Warm welcome, excellent service, absolutely more food than my partner and I could eat. I had a fillet steak and it was cooked to perfection, and juicy. We did hear the complaint, as the dining room is cosy, and to the two of us it appeared that Mrs Houlker was being very patient and understanding in a difficult situation. We have since returned to The Upper Rectory for a table of 6, with both sets of parents, and, once again, the meal, service, and ambience was faultless. We will be returning many times.
