REVIEWS OF Urban Karahi

Minder - Amar (13 September 2009)

I had a fabulous night at Urban Spice in Hanwell in mid September on my sister-in-law’s birthday. The starters were all truly delicious and we had a lot of them. The lamb chops were my favourite, so tender and the flavours were intense that they kind of melted in your mouth leaving your tongue singing. The Amritsari fish was cooked perfectly with more subtle flavours as is appropriate to fish. The chilli paneer and the vegetable Manchurian went down a storm with the vegetarians and the carnivores amongst us also put a fair some away, same with the Bombay aloo. The chicken tikka may have been one of the too many starters, but had to be tried and again it was excellent. The waiters were so attentive with the drinks order being served within minutes and the food orders did not take long either, these being cooked in the open kitchen and delivered sizzling to your table. I really couldn't eat much of the main meal as the starters were so good and we had so much of it, but I wasn't going to miss out and brought them home for the next day, not the same effect I know but delicious the next day nevertheless. The restaurant is a credit to its young managers, it's clean and crisply run and very reasonable. Only one small niggle is the toilet facilities, though immaculately clean, there were only two of them, one for men and one for women and disabled, so you may have to wait. There is talk of expansion at this place, so I'm sure these will be taken into account in the new format.

I ate at Urban Karahi a few weeks ago and have to say the food was truly amazing! I loved the ambiance, the interior was very classy, and the service was close to what you'd expect in a restaurant paying three times more. Definitely recommend it!
