Bare brick walls, well-spaced tables and natural colors welcome diners to Tiparos Thai Cuisine and Sushi Bar on North Clark Street. The décor is minimalist with plenty of tapestries on the walls, which showcase the delicate fabrics from Thailand.

The menu is a blend of Thai and Japanese delights, and opens with starters of crab Rangoon, pot stickers, fried wonton and chicken or vegetable egg rolls. The range of seafood species featuring in the sushi and sashimi à la carte is extensive, taking in salmon roe, eel, escolar, yellowtail and octopus. Apart from the raw fish the kitchen also delivers entrées of pepper steak, almond beef, roast duck and rama chicken on a bed of steamed crisp broccoli topped with Tiparos peanut sauce. Then there are the more familiar dishes such as salmon teriyaki, three flavored red snapper, Singapore noodles and wonton and barbecue pork.

Round off the meal with a warm or chilled sake or Kirin beer.
