David Copperfield's
1399 York Avenue, Corner of 74th Street, New York, 10021 [Map]
No, it's not Charles Dickens's famed novel but one among New York City's original beer bars. For the last ten years David Copperfield's has been Upper East Side's most preferred spot for casual dining and fine beers. Whether you are coming from Sotheby's right down the street, after having recently acquired that Van Gogh, or just a tourist visiting, there's something at this watering hole, which will easily strike your fancy.
The beer menu features 31 beers on draught, one very special cask conditioned ale and an additional 100 in the bottle, and an eclectic range of food that covers everything from fresh Tex-Mex to traditional pub favorites. So alongside fish and chips, bangers and mash and shepherd's pie you may find salads, ribs, nachos, burgers, fajitas and Buffalo wings.
Ales are arranged by nation on the menu and if choosing the right one is a slightly daunting task then just pop a question to the bartender.
