Red Barn, The
901 Highway 80 East, Demopolis, 36732 [Map]
John Wayne, who swaggered across the streets in the 1941 movie "The Fighting Kentuckian", which was set in the town of Demopolis - Greek for "City of People", arrived slightly too early for something as exciting as The Red Barn, a true blue Steakhouse founded in a later era. Edna Brown, the sixty-something year-old owner of this restaurant has been serving her customers with a special touch of warmth and friendliness that can be experienced only in sweet ol' Alabama for twenty-three years now. Locals and visitors alike look for tables the minute they walk into the door.
Located in a red barn, the venue features wooden panelling on the walls and wooden furniture with red and maroon linen providing a fantastically rustic feel that is greatly relished by diners. It serves a menu that includes steaks, chicken, seafood and speciality items.
