The Bombay Club Restaurant & Martini Bistro
830 Conti Street, New Orleans, 70112 [Map]
The Bombay Club is a splendid fusion of music, food and drink in a candlelit setting in the heart of the French Quarter. The décor celebrates the British theme with rich wood, fine portraits and leather wingback chairs, and there is also a lovely small courtyard.
New world Creole with a French twist is sure to notch up expectations, but the menu seldom fails to deliver and with appetizers such as flash fried calamari tossed in a sweet chili sauce and served with Sambal-lime sour cream, and crawfish and asparagus pansotti, diners are sure to be delighted. The main event could include braised pork shank with Creole white beans and collard greens, and New Orleans style barbecue shrimp with rosemary grit cakes. The duck duet is also worth exploring with leg of duck confit and pepper seared boneless breast in a blackcurrant duck reduction.
The martini list encompasses over 100 different martinis each stirred to perfection.

Michaul's Live Music Restaurant
840 Saint Charles Avenue, New Orleans, 70130 [Map]
At Michaul's you can grab the best view of the Mardi Gras parade and settle down for a delicious Cajun meal to enjoy the festive atmosphere to the hilt. The fun and friendly ambiance gets a further boost from the live music and free dance lessons but whatever your reason for being there, Michaul's ensures that you have a good time which is what dining out is all about anyway.
A typical New Orleans menu, they have spicy BBQ shrimp amongst the starters followed by traditional favorites such as alligator sauce piquant, fresh tender gator battered and fried, served in a rich red Cajun sauce. Dessert is not for the faint hearted calorie counting types, if you consider the praline cheesecake or the chocolate suicide cake; the speciality drinks, amazing concoctions of various spirits and juices, are definitely worth a try.
