Bistro Sofia
616 Dolley Madison Road, Greensboro, 27410 [Map]
The delightful and charming Bistro Sofia in Greensboro could well serve as an example of a restaurant where everything seems to come together with complete equanimity. The décor is smart and casual but it's the quiet elegance of the place which stands out. For those who are fond of the outdoors, the patio seems like a wonderful option, where high red brick walls enclose a lush garden and a well appointed seating area.
The menu lingers between French and American cuisine and for the first course you could opt for confit of duck leg with braised lentils and balsamic glaze. Follow it with a main course of nut crusted pork medallions with gingered sweet potato puree or maybe the grilled scallops with truffled porcini pasta purses and sherried lobster cream. The drinks list is eclectic and extensive, featuring some of the best European and American wines although you could take a look at the Reserve List if you're feeling extravagant.
