Founded in August 2006, by Chefs Christophe Poteaux and Michelle Garbee-Poteaux, Bastille is a contemporary restaurant and wine bar. The menu is based on a combination of traditional, yet modern interpretations of classic bistro food and is viewed as 'bistro gastro'.

The gourmand menu is a four course affair where you'll start with homemade duck charcuterie and calamari and shrimp beignets before moving on to organic beet salad and bleu des causses panacotta and Belgian endives and frisee salad, apple, manchego and walnuts. Then follows grilled veal chop and banyuls-honey butter, grass-fed beef fillet mignon and béarnaise sauce and grilled branzino filet and balsamic-tomato-caper vinaigrette. To end on a sweet note there is cherry and almond chocolate fondant with ameretto sabayon.

The hand-picked wine selections offer more than one-hundred-twenty labels with over twenty of them available by the glass or tasting pour (half glass).

In Alexandria's Belle View Shopping Centre, is a restaurant which has gained a reputation for being the benchmark of Indian cuisine. Dishes of India, has been in operation for over a decade and comes with ample parking space among other features that make it ideal for a relaxed dining experience. The décor is pleasant, simple and welcoming with pink tablecloths that have characterized the place since its beginnings. The chefs Ramanand Bhatt and Sohan Singh bring in a collective experience of about 70 years which is evident in every curry and chutney.

At Dishes of India, you get to sample authentic Indian food sourced from every part of the country from the biriyani which is native to Hyderabad to an array of colourful dishes from the north, west and east of India. Begin with crispy samosas or the mixed tandoori platter, followed by the chicken or lamb biryani and conclude with the rasa malai. But of course it's impossible to try it all in one meal, so save the rest for future visits.
