The Forge in The Forest started business in 1944 and was a popular meeting place for legendary artists and writers, but it could have been a dying breed had its employees not forged a bond and made this place into what it is today. Once again there's plenty of fun, food and conversations happening, whether it's at the lush gardens by the redwood tables outside, the copper-walled saloon or the Oak Tree Room.
In the midst of all this, American cuisine is the mainstay and a closer look at the menu could reveal a basket of fried calamari with spicy cocktail and tartar sauce, and their renowned Reuben egg rolls served with Russian dressing. There is also a good selection of pasta and seafood dishes, and from the grill, try the Ancho Chile pork loin or 12oz New York steak.
Bring out those stylish leashes as The Forge is a dog-friendly place, so your pet could perhaps make new friends and enjoy hen house chicken strips or a hamburger patty from the dog pound menu.
