Comfort food gets more interesting at Crest Café and it has been so over the last 25 years. Located in an uptown neighbourhood in San Diego, you'd notice the art deco setting has been tweaked a bit to give that funky edge. On the food side the emphasis is on healthy eating and here's some good news for those who like to linger in bed way longer than average - breakfast is served till 2 pm!

Once you're up start the day with lemon ricotta buttermilk pancakes or crème brûlée French toast, or their speciality Tuscan Benedict. Crestwiches at lunchtime could feature a cold turkey meatloaf or turkey and ham stack, and chicken pot pie for dinner may have grandma nodding in disapproval or envy, depending; here's chicken breast, mushrooms and bell peppers, baked in a spicy white wine cream sauce topped with a lemon pastry crust. A butterscotch pecan apple crunch helps end the meal on a sweet note.
