This San Diego classic is located within a block of the Civic Theater and the Lyceum and is perfect for those heading out for a play. With its wooden panels and stained glass, there's a measure of quiet sophistication about the place, while the beautiful mahogany bar is another famed spot where judges and attorneys find respite.

For lunch, start with the famed mussel bisque en croûte and move on to grilled steak sandwich with Cajun fried onions and cheddar cheese or just go for the balsamic marinated flat iron steak with shoestring potatoes. Late in the evening, choices for starters could include grilled lamb chops with aragula salad followed by an entrée of oven roasted salmon with honey lemon black pepper glaze and end with a crème brûlée.
