Grant Grill
326 Broadway, San Diego, 92101 [Map]
The Grant became the signature restaurant of the iconic US Grant Hotel in 1951. It was interestingly a men's only institution until 3:00pm, when in 1969 a group of local business women staged a sit-in! This event is one of the city's legends still repeated today in most social circles.
The Grill offers both graceful charm and an exquisite dining experience. Supple, mocha leather private booths and see-and-be-seen table seating in the dining room combine contemporary ambiance with stylish nods to the restaurant's rich history.
The new American menu offers signature seasonal dishes such as mock turtle soup, spiny lobster and venison loin, all created using only the freshest locally harvested ingredients brought in from Southern California's regional marketplaces.
The attention to detail extends beyond the menu to wines and classic cocktails. The Grill hosts parties for up to 140 people and offers a wonderful blend of cuisine, service and atmosphere.

Shakespeare Pub & Grille
3701 India Street, San Diego, 92103 [Map]
Reminiscent of a traditional English local pub, The Shakespeare Pub and Grill is a relaxed space located at the base of Mission Hills where India Street dead-ends. With an authentic British décor that is bluff and plain-spoken, the Bard's brew-house features exteriors of weathered shingles and ivy-covered walls which lead onto a large square bar boasting of bare-board floors, spacious wooden tables and relaxed, comfortable nooks to lounge around. The food is similarly wholesome and traditionally English, diverse and made from freshly sourced ingredients.
Prepared by international chef, Manuel Daniel III, the menu consists of a varied mix of dishes from traditional to modern. They include fish and chips and shepherd’s pie to ploughman's plate, an assortment of cheese, Scotch egg and sausage rolls served with veggies and Branston pickle; and gammon steak topped with pineapple slice and served with chips. Other dishes like fish taco, sandwiches and quick bites are well tuned to the aura.
The authentic bar and wide choice of spirits, beers and ales help in maintaining the general mood and ambience of the place.
