The dinner menu is obviously Americanized with whiffs of Asia, so head straight for Humboldt fog goats' cheese with spicy roasted sunflower seeds, or crispy popcorn shrimp with artichoke and red chili tartar sauce. Grilled rare ahi tuna, Australian lamb rack, or grilled 28 day aged filet mignon with fricassée of homemade pastrami, celery root and turnip, and foie gras sauce could follow. A plate of artisan cheeses from Wisconsin, California and Colorado may impress at dessert time.

Owner chef Victor Niebylski offers varied Mediterranean influenced cuisine in this charming café set in a building constructed in 1921. The Hotel Charlotte provides a good base to enjoy the surrounding area which is abundant in natural beauty and the restaurant is a perfect ally, serving good food in a relaxed ambience.

Start with steamed clams or fried calamari while there are plenty of homemade soups and a wide variety of salads served with warm bread to lend that touch of rustic charm. Amongst the mains that could follow is rack of lamb grilled with carbernet peppercorn sauce or the lamb shank, a hearty dish for those with large appetites. Other popular dishes in their repertoire could include chicken Argentine, boneless meat with a tangy lemon and garlic dressing and there's a good choice of desserts including ice cream to end the meal.

The wine list features local, Sierra Nevada wines, and you can also order domestic as well as imported beers to accompany your meal.

Cafe Charlotte is open for lunch and wine tasting during the summer months, specializing in local Sierra Nevada and California wineries, and is also available year round for special events such as luncheons, celebration dinners, as well as off site catering.
