Chef Bart Kuliczkowski came to the United States in 1986 at the age of 14 without knowing a word of English. Opening Sages in 2001 was like a dream coming true for him and today, he is considered to be one of the most respected chefs Eastside.

The elegant restaurant with an intimate softly lit interior is tucked away on a corner in Redmond, serving rustic Italian and European dishes with a continental flair. Veal wrapped prawns; butternut squash ravioli or 'wife's favourite pasta' of grilled chicken breast and penne with shitake mushrooms, sun dried tomatoes, garlic and basil in a marinara cream sauce can be preceded by a special homemade soup like the tomato and Northwest clam chowder, a favourite among regulars.

Desserts comprise of chocolate fondue, a Sages specialty - an assortment of fresh fruit and melted chocolate - requiring 24 hours advance notice, and popular tiramisu. Beer as well as 13 wines, part of an extensive list, are served by the glass.
