Valans Restaurant

Early in 2005, Dave and Remy Vale came upon some available property in the village of Llandybie: two unused shops and a bedsit on the ground floor and a flat on the first floor - all conjoined. They moved into the upstairs flat and began their dream for a family restaurant.

In August 2005, Valans Restaurant, located on Llandybie High Street, opened its doors for teas, coffees, snacks, lunches and evening meals - offering an exciting and varied menu including daily and weekly specials, an extensive wine list and a good selection of beers, spirits and non-alcoholic drinks.

Born and bred in Llansadwrn, near Llandeilo, Dave had been a chef for many years working both locally and nationally in award winning pubs and restaurants. Complimented with Remy's entertainment background, opening Valans was a natural progression for the husband and wife team.

Valans Restaurant places a real emphasis on first class food and service, local produce and Welsh recipes. All the food is freshly prepared to order with everything from bread to ice cream all being made on the premises. Whether you simply want a freshly brewed cup of coffee or a mouth watering four course meal, you can expect a pleasant and warm welcome at Valans.

A typical dinner might consist of scallops fried in olive oil, Caernarfon butter and lemon juice, served on a bed of salad leaves with a twist of black pepper or tomato and Welsh goat's cheese galette - a puff pastry circle coated with a tomato, garlic, caper and anchovy relish, then grilled with organic Pantysgawn goat's cheese to commence your meal with, followed by fresh boneless wild Welsh salmon grilled with Caernarfon butter and pine nuts, served with a warm raspberry dressing and Welsh bacon fried cabbage or whole Cig Calon Cymru Cif lamb rump cooked to your liking, pan fried, brushed with mustard and roasted with a herb crust, sliced and served with a ratatouille of fresh vegetables.
