Vasco & Piero's Pavilion Restaurant

15 Poland Street, London, W1F 8QE

The convivial buzz at Vasco and Piero's Pavilion Restaurant provides a perfect atmosphere for Italian, more specifically Umbrian food. Having started life in 1971 as a Hungarian tea room at its former location on Oxford Street, this popular Soho restaurant has received plaudits for well-honed cooking techniques and their commitment to sustainability. The menu changes twice daily and the broad repertoire might stretch from cured Umbrian ham, baked ricotta and grilled fennel, or spaghettini with prawns, chilli, tomatoes and fresh herbs, to grilled rare tagliata of sirloin beef with rosemary oil and spinach. There are a number of lighter options at lunchtime such as hand-made tagliatelle with tomato and basil, and grilled cod with herb crust, basil dressing and cannellini beans.

The short, but carefully selected wine list offers a good choice of white, red and sparkling varieties alongside a selection of cognacs and dessert wines.
