Vasco is one of the finest restaurants in the region. Its food, service and attention to detail are absolutely first class. If you're a fan of highly ranked local outlets like Thyme or Fishers then Vasco's for you. We were recommended the restaurant by a friend and now we're telling everyone. If you're a fine dining fan then this place is for you. Also offers a stylish bar downstairs.

I went to Vasco's on a Saturday night with a friend and we both thought the food was gorgeous. The decor is modern, bright and trendy. The atmosphere was buzzing, although when we arrived at 9pm there were still seats available in the bar downstairs. When we left at 11pm it was packed. First of all there was an amuse bouche of a sort of mini bruschetta with some sort of pickled fish and cheese topping - delicious. The bread basket was fabulous, but unfortunately only arrived with the food, otherwise the service was good. As a vegetarian I had a goat’s cheese starter followed by the mushroom and spinach lasagne, which sounded quite boring, but was very special with very unusual varieties of mushrooms. My friend had the smoked salmon and then a chicken pasta dish. The desserts were amazing. I often don't bother, but couldn't resist the apricot and mascarpone tart with crème anglaise and it was to die for. My friend had a raspberry and lemon curd Pavlova, which she loved. We spent around £75, which included only one glass of wine, so it isn't an inexpensive night out, but the food is worth it for a special occasion.
