Amidst all the architectural elegance of Bath, The Bath Spa Hotel is admirably up to scratch. At its heart is the Vellore Restaurant, quite close enough to the city centre for convenience. The calm sophistication that prevails produces well recognised modern British dishes served with élan and quiet dignity, which have all the aura of a confident hand about them. Dinner a la carte will cost £45, with a set price meal for £10 less. The wine list is impressive, if not particularly easy on the pocket. House wine at £19.50 provides little relief but is of excellent quality.International
