If you are in to fish here is an answer for you. Every second Wednesday go to the Venture In, a half-timbered building just off the A449, and enjoy their special fish evening, a sure sign of the kitchen's preferences. This could be red sea-bream with couscous and Thai-style sauce. It's not that other delights are ignored and there are plenty of meat options. Braised pig's cheek with seared foie gras and caramelised apple is but one. Desserts aim to quench and could be pear Tatin on cocoa sorbet or caramelised pineapple cake with vanilla ice cream. There is a short wine list with French and Chilean house wines at around £11.00. No children under 10 years.French, Modern British

I visited the venture inn last night for my mothers 60th birthday and I have to say in my opinion is the best restaurant in the Worcester area by far! Having been to all the other supposed top places in the area I find they fall short in all areas compared to the venture inn.

I had my 60th birthday here in July 2008. We booked the whole restaurant, which takes a maximum 32 covers for lunch. From 12 to 5 pm the meal and atmosphere was fantastic. It is a small restaurant and the tables were set as 2 tens and one 12, yet all close together. In the run up, Toby the chef and John the manager were very helpful in making suggestions and accepting our food ideas too for inclusion in the lunch menu so there was a small choice for each course. On the day everyone got their course at the same time and the normal high standard was still there. Everyone really enjoyed their meal and there was time for pre-drinks, leisurely wine with the meal, a speech and a champagne toast. I have eaten there several times a year since the restaurant opened in the nineties and we have always had excellent food - London quality, but at a much fairer price. Parking at the back is so easy; the village is also pretty for visitors from outside the area to stroll the main street before or after the meal. So glad we decided on the Venture In. I don't have the bill to hand, but know we felt it very fair. The lunch menu per person was about £26 plus the alcohol on top. Thank you, Toby and John and Mrs. Toby, for helping make the day one of the happiest of my life.
