Verdes

Verdes is a delightful delicatessen, coffee shop and restaurant all rolled into one, serving locally sourced, free-range food in the historic market town of Skipton. Sitting cosily in the basement of a Grade II listed building, the interior of beamed ceilings, exposed stone work, and candle lights add that rustic feel.

The restaurant is open only on Friday and Saturday evenings and the menu might include the delightful patchwork pâté and stilton walnut and pear salad for starters, a grilled sirloin steak topped with Cajun spiced king prawns to follow and chocolate truffle pudding for dessert.

Who does not fondly recall the famous chicken paninis or wraps, quiches, pies, cakes and outsized scones? Tuck into all this and more at the coffee shop and if you want that taste lingering in your mouth for a longer time, pop in to the deli counter where the neatly stacked bottles of chutneys and local wine are all waiting to be given good homes.
