Viceroy, The Description
The Viceroy is a thoroughly individual, recently opened Indian restaurant in Sherwood, aiming to present the very best of Indian cuisine, with its traditional recipes brought from the heart of India, highlighting the fact that genuine Punjabi food tastes like no other.
They can seat up 200 people and have a private venue, which can be hired for either busines or personal use. Group and party bookings are welcome with buffet menus that can be designed to suit your requirements. A bonus is the fact that there is easily accessible parking and it is only a five minute ride from the city centre.

The reviews and write up on the Viceroy made me want to try it and regrettably it doesn't come up to the mark. The complimentary poppadums were soft and the pickle tray didn't include any onions: we had to ask for them. Starters of chicken shashlik were overwhelmed with onions, some raw, some cooked and capsicum: the chicken was bland and the portion small. The two main courses, chicken jalfrezi and lamb bhuna masala, were indistinguishable apart from the main ingredient. The rotis were adequate, if somewhat crispy and the garlic naan mediocre. We washed this down with draught Kingfisher and the bill was around £44 for two. I couldn't recommend the food although the décor and the staff are fine.

This is a hidden gem of a restaurant that's well worth a visit. The food is fantastic, but that's not the best bit - it's the staff. The hosts are fantastic and make you feel exceptionally welcome.
