Villa D'Este

2 Chapel Street, Marlow, SL7 1DD

Villa D'Este in Lake Como is an epitome of peace and tranquillity with acres of parkland, fountains and landscaped gardens; closer to home its namesake restaurant on Chapel Street in Marlow may not exactly match its Italian counterpart, but it's still a sought after place with an elegant and mellow interior of closely packed tables, neutral tones on the walls and interesting water features. Then there's the food that is reliably authentic starting with endive and chicory salad with mature goats' cheese and walnuts with an Italian dressing and wild boar ham dressed with melon. Next to arrive could be plates of slow roasted shank of lamb in red wine, sweet balsamic glaze and rosemary sauce, and salmon fillet in sweet chilli marinade with roasted mixed peppers.

The simplicity of a pasta dish is undeniable with the organic wrinkled pasta with smoked chicken, belly pork, sun-dried tomatoes and peas.

The concise wine menu at Villa D'Este draws from both the Old and New World with three non-vintage white, red and rosé on the house list.

REVIEWS OF Villa D'Este

Lieza Browne (19 March 2013)

Can I just say, that this restaurnat has become a firm favourite of mine, with great service...always with a smile..staff who will accommodate whatever you want....food that is beautifully cooked and with the freshest of ingredients...and a management team that always remeber who you are. I go with my young daughter and I am always met as if I was one of the family. Totally outstanding...not cheap...but nott too expensive..great for any occasion

H Symington (19 June 2011)

We ate last night at Villa D'Este, Marlow. We were warmly welcomed and, although the resturant was very busy on a Saturday night, the service from both the owners-managers and the waiting staff was impeccable. The food was delicious and we drank the red house wine, which was of a high quality. We would certainly eat there again.
