Voodoo Rooms, The Description

The stunning and opulent architecture of the Voodoo Rooms at times veers towards the sinister, an effect that embellishes the theme in this nouveau iconic bar in Edinburgh. Ornate ceilings, black leather banquettes and glass topped tables, otherwise innocuous elements of décor, seem to have a Luciferous attractiveness to them. While the music events being held there have certainly made it a popular hotspot, the food is a major crowd puller.

The Devil's Kitchen, an apt epithet for their restaurant, looks to New Orleans for culinary inspiration, so expect to find Creole crisp fried baby squid in the starters. Italian influences can be spotted in the risotto primavera, a delectable combination of peas, beans, asparagus, mint and Parmesan. For dessert, the spiced voodoo chocolate fudge with crème anglaise ends the meal perfectly. Their bar is well stocked with reputed wines, champagnes as well as tequila, rum and speciality cocktails.

Your Reviews of Voodoo Rooms, The

Vix99 (18 May 2009)

We went for an evening meal at the weekend and found it all very pleasant, it took a while for the drinks to come but they were worth the wait as there were excellent cocktails. The menu is not huge but covers most bases reasonably well, the food was pretty good, excellent steak, and the atmosphere and service were also very good. We'll be going back.

Jmk1 (14 January 2009)

I was there on Saturday night for a special occasion – 65th birthday - and the experience was generally very good. Service was relaxed and friendly but attentive enough and the food was all very good except for a carbonara, which seemed to have lots of whole peppercorns in it - we were offered a replacement dish and they took it off the bill. The star of the night was the T-bone steak desperate Dan style! Thumbs up all round our table!
