Vujon

29 Queen Street, Quayside, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, NE1 3UG

The debate about what goes to make up the authentic Indian taste is one that will happily maintain momentum as long as the popularity of Indian food is maintained outside its country of origin. However, instinct is a great quality, and a visit to Vujon somehow suggests that here is a holy grail of authentic Indian cooking, making this one of the most notable Indian restaurants in the North East. Nor does the genuine feel stop at the food, with staff, décor and atmosphere sophisticated and tasteful. You might feel that all this excellence would cause a financial crisis - not so, prices are higher than usual but certainly not in proportion to the high standards set at Vujon.

REVIEWS OF Vujon

Alison (6 August 2009)

Vujon is and continues to be the best Indian restaurant in Newcastle with excellent food and brilliant service. I would recommend it highly to anyone wanting to experience authentic, high quality Indian food with a touch of class.

Dean (24 March 2009)

The food is above average for the area, but nothing special when comparing it to Bradford-Manchester etc. We went there as a large party with a set menu for 18 at £25 per head, few people dropped out so there were 15 of us. The food arrived in big dishes, both starters and main course was not enough even though the food was arriving on the basis of 18 people. The party was a mix of men and women, so there were no big eaters. The bill was even more of a surprise when they insisted on charging us 10% service charge. We only had beers and soft drink, however they insisted that the bar bill was £150 and would not show us the till receipt. Waiters are rude and arrogant and the food is at best okay. My opinion is to stay away.
