Waffle House - St Albans
Kingsbury Watermill, St Michael's Street, St Albans, AL3 4SJ
It may be located within a 16th century water mill but Waffle House truly lives up to its name and does what it knows best, serving delectable Belgian waffles for over 25 years. An invigorating breakfast of smoked salmon and scrambled eggs; bacon, banana and tomato, or mixed berries and yogurt topped with crunchy muesli could help you jump start your day. Pop in at lunchtime to try some of their savoury dishes such as chilli con carne served with tortillas and sour cream, and ratatouille. The speciality is, as the name suggests, waffles, and here they come in various versions - wholemeal, plain or spelt flour with several combinations, so there's something for everyone. Fresh banana, banoffee, pecan nut and butterscotch sauce or the spiced fruit waffle, all arrive in their golden glory, crisp hot from the oven.It may be located within a 16th century water mill but Waffle House truly lives up to its name and does what it knows best, serving delectable Belgian waffles for over 25 years. REVIEWS OF Waffle House - St Albans

We found this on the internet and my husband was not looking forward to visiting it. We queued for about twenty minutes, the waiter seeing people to their tables was not very organised, but it was well worth the wait. The waitress serving us was friendly and quick. The waffles were delicious, I had the ham, cheese and mushroom, which was delicious we have no complaints. I also ordered a side salad which was fresh and tasty, my hubby had the chilli con carne waffle, which he said was lovely and actually said he would definitely come back again, even after his initial thought that he would not enjoy waffles. He ordered a pot of tea, very strong - he loves strong tea. You very rarely get a good tasty strong tea served in these sort of places. I had a small chocolate shake - bit on the small side, so next time a large is a must, because this shake was gorgeous, so very delicious. As I just couldn't resist I even had a sweet waffle for desert, which again was delicious. I had a plain waffle with chocolate sauce and ice cream. The sauce was very tasty, and the ice cream creamy, which accompanied the hot waffle perfectly. I would not say it was expensive, and will definitely return if I have the opportunity.

My husband and two children visited the Waffle House on a Saturday afternoon in July. We were seated quickly and the staff were friendly. The service was attentive and we did not have to wait for food for long. My kids had a strawberry and chocolate milkshake, which was lovely. We shared a 'chocolate sauce' waffle with ice cream and cream and a banana waffle with butterscotch sauce. They were nice enough, but did not think much of the flavour or quality of the waffles...too crispy and light and almost empty inside. A bit pricey for what they were, but the setting was very attractive.
