Waggon and Horses Description
The Wagon and Horses is a relaxed and intimate traditional English pub with chunky wooden furniture and low beamed ceilings; their meals are all freshly prepared and created by putting a modern twist on traditional classics.
Dishes could vary from ham terrine with piccalilli, to smoked haddock chowder, or black pudding and stilton salad to begin. Their enterprising main courses might include cod loin with pork belly, butternut squash, and spinach risotto; the regional speciality of Nottinghamshire pie, created at the Wagon by chef Roy Wood; rib eye steak with melted stilton, or roast sea trout with a tomato and rosemary sauce.
A dessert of toffee banana with tiramisu ice cream tastes as good as it sounds, supported by other delights such as baked rice pudding, and chocolate and pecan tart. Beers consist of choices like Wainwright, Lancaster Bomber, and Thwaites Smooth, and a well-mannered list of wines and champagne that provides much pleasure.

Your Reviews of Waggon and Horses
I Keep Trying (18 January 2009)
This review is for the Waggon at Hallam aka The Waggon and Horses. This is an excellent little dining room, well situated and offering great food at a reasonable price. Fuss free is the impression we were left with. The food arrived hot, well presented and was very good value. Three courses for £15 show that good food can be done on a budget. I can think of a few head chefs who I'd like to take to lunch and here is where I'd bring 'em. Recommended!

My partner and I have enjoyed every meal we have had there, we have introduced many friends who themselves keep returning. The food is fantastic, and the staff are friendly, polite and efficient.
