Waggon and Horses Description

A relaxed and intimate traditional English pub with chunky wooden furniture and low beamed ceilings; their meals are all freshly prepared and created by putting a modern twist on traditional classics.

Dishes could vary from chicken liver and foie gras terrine with pear chutney and sherry vinaigrette to chunky Hungarian fish soup or home smoked magret duck breast with cinnamon, orange and mango to begin your dinner with.

Then their enterprising main courses might include cod loin stuffed with sun dried tomato butter and served with a minted pea puree; rib eye steak with a blue stilton, chestnut mushroom and port sauce or calf's liver served with olive oil mashed potatoes, crispy pancetta and a rich sage jus.

Your Reviews of Waggon and Horses

Jason Nussey (28 June 2007)

My partner and I have enjoyed every meal we have had there, we have introduced many friends who themselves keep returning. The food is fantastic, and the staff are friendly, polite and efficient.

Angela D (1 May 2007)

Have eaten here four times now and wish I had tried it sooner. Although there are a few stools at the bar, this is basically a restaurant and a very good one too. Modern, but not scary for older clientele, the food is superb. Always seems to be busy with a great atmosphere, attracting a wide age range of mainly smart diners. Young waiting team who are not always perfect, but do try hard, so I forgive them the odd slip up! Reasonably priced for the quality of food.
