Waltzing Weasel Inn, The Description

A traditional English inn set in the Peak District. The restaurant overlooks the National Park and amongst the hills in the background is Kinder Scout. They specialise in good English food made with the very best ingredients, including locally sourced meats, such as deer (venison) from the National Trust at Lyme Park and rare breed beef from Arthur Gee at Longnor, while their range of Harvey Bangers sausages are hand made to their own recipe by Tony Carline at Cromford, south of Matlock.

There is a bar menu available for those that are looking for something less formal and cheaper, though they also offer the fixed price menu at lunchtime, at £14.95 for two courses, most people spend rather less as they either opt for the bar menu or take just one dish from the main carte.

Their fairly traditional mains could include: crispy roast duck with figs; beef in whisky and cream sauce; lamb shank braised in red wine and balsamic vinegar with red onions; pork loin with apple sauce. The homemade puddings embrace such tempting treats as treacle tart, bread and butter pudding and fruit crumble.

Fixed Dinner

  • £14.95 (2 courses) to £19.95 (3 courses)

Your Reviews of Waltzing Weasel Inn, The

Ken Margin (13 July 2008)

Following a recent stay at the Waltzing Weasel recently, I was impressed with the quality of the food and the comfort of the accommodation. I had a delightful haddock and chips on the first night and a superbly prepared steak on the second night. Both meals were served in the bar and the service was excellent.

Mike Thompson (14 January 2008)

My wife and I had lunch at the Waltzing Weasel Inn recently, and it was not a very pleasant experience. The food was badly cooked and the service poor. The cutlery was heaped on the middle of the table and the pub was not well kept. I wonder how they have been called Derbyshire's best restaurant and pub for six out of eight years, and had only two people dining between 12:45 and 14:00.
