Warehouse Brasserie

Built to catch a niche in the monied part of Merseyside the Warehouse, which was exactly what it used to be has never looked back. Arguably whatever had been put up could hardly have failed, but that would be much less than fair to the effort that has gone into creating this place where it's all at, particularly for the younger set.

The Warehouse's global menu works on a series of small dishes to start with such dishes as Jack Daniels glazed baby back ribs, Moroccan lamb meatballs, and right on Southport shrimp and watercress risotto. A range of salad and past dishes follows amongst which may be fettuccine pasta with smoked haddock, bacon fries, wine and tarragon, or an original anchovy Caesar salad. Large dishes sport a number of firm favourites includes Marc's fish dish of the day depending on what the boat's brought in, a home smoked saddle of lamb and that old faithful fish 'n' chips with tartare sauce, forgetting not the mushy peas.

Baked Alaska is there at the end, together with sticky toffee pudding and a bread and butter pudding tart. The noise level not infrequently goes above what some might term acceptable, but if you think that you're probably in the wrong place. Those who stick it out will certainly not have a dull evening. A short wine list ranges from eight house selections at £12.50 a bottle or £2.50 a glass, and for those wishing to make a splash there are suitably priced opportunities.
