Warrington, The

The glorious mosaic floor is intact and so is the pillared portico, making sure that this historic building in Maida Vale does not succumb to undue modernisation. However, the interior of The Warrington, a new age gastropub and a part of Gordon Ramsay's ever-expanding culinary empire, has been refurbished suitably and the first floor private dining area is ample proof of that.

Downstairs you could sip a pint from any of the beers or ales on the impressive list or satisfy hunger pangs with some of their bar snacks such as pot of pickled cockles or maybe chicken and wild mushroom pie. The à la carte menu takes in cured salmon with fennel and orange amongst the starters, while pan-fried calves liver with red onion and port sauce feature in the main course section. Don't miss the rhubarb and frangipane tart with crème fraîche for dessert.

The stained glass and illuminated alcove do their bit to keep the horse shoe-shaped bar area attractive and are in keeping with The Warrington's sense of history.
