Waterfront Restaurant and Bar

Four of us went to that restaurant, and the first impression we got was that the setting was lovely. We were ushered into a bar and given a menu straight away. We did not like this as we prefer to order the wine, and then sit and chat and chill out. We didn’t feel like being rushed into ordering straight away, but as we were approached about three times asking if we were ready to order, we felt pressurised to do so, and so we did. We were shown to our table, and within a few minutes our food arrived. It was delicious. As soon as the plates were cleared the main course arrived. I couldn’t believe this. Within thirty minutes of arriving we were served our main course! Yes, I expect efficiency, but this was not the evening we had in mind. I feel the customer should dictate the pace, and not the waiters. The main course was over priced at £14 for four small pieces of duck, which was so tough we all had trouble cutting it. The dauphine potatoes were very dry and, tasteless though the spinach was delicious. By 8.15 we had finished our meal. It was like eating at a fast food place, and if we had wanted that sort of evening we would have gone to another place. Four girls who were seated in front of us had their food put on their table before they had even sat down. Again we were being rushed into ordering dessert, but one of us told the waitress quite firmly we did not want the menu yet as we wanted to sit a while and enjoy the wine. I think one of the reasons the service was so rushed was that they had a large party booked to come. Well if they cannot handle large parties they shouldn’t take them. This should certainly not be done at the expense of rushing everyone else. The evening had no ambience, and we were not able to relax over a nice dinner. We felt pressurised, and the food was not worth the price.

We arrived at this restaurant having not heard too much about it but what a pleasant surprise! Nestled on the Union Wharf with stunning views of the canal, we were treated to an eclectic mix of modern and traditional food, which was stunning. This is a great find and far superior to most restaurants in the area. Top marks all round.
