The first good thing about the Waterside Bistro is the location. Sitting in the sun by a pretty white bistro watching the Tyne slide past is perfect for a Sunday afternoon. The menu provided enough choice for all (and difficult decision for some!). The starters were good - big enough to take the edge of hunger with plenty of flavour. Brie and cranberries highly recommended. Main courses were generous - the scampi and chips were fantastic and the steak Diane cooked exactly as requested. However, the desserts were without a doubt the highlight of the meal - a huge sticky toffee pudding with enough sauce to prevent it being dry, and a divine chocolate fudge cake. Beer was good, and staff were attentive enough without being intrusive. Highly recommended summer or winter.
