Welcome to Town Restaurant, The Description
Only ten miles from the centre of Swansea, The Welcome to Town offers a rural escape to those who wish to savour decent cooking amidst the scenic delights of the Gower peninsula. A modern approach in the kitchens embraces the local ingredients and permits the occasional flourishes of individuality without losing the thread. So expect to find the Welsh lavabread in an overcoat, toast, bacon and scrambled egg all combined to produce what could very well pass for a savoury, or pressed terrine of lobster and leek with a saffron vinaigrette. Main courses include roast best end of Welsh lamb, fillet of Welsh black or a wild mushroom and asparagus risotto with shaved parmesan.
Hot chocolate and toffee fondant comes with chocolate sauce and pistachio ice cream and the selection of Welsh farmhouse cheeses with oatcakes and homemade walnut bread produces some rare treats.
A great selection of house wines well-supported by a main list just serves to complete the pleasure of this unassuming but thoroughly genuine country restaurant.

Despite booking, our table wasn't ready and the manager demanded our coats. They refused to serve bread for our toddler. The service was disappointing and we walked out even before we could order.

Excellent food and service. Also value for money. Some wait but worth it as freshly cooked. One criticism, proprietors do not mingle with customers, small point but important to some. Plus point excellent foie gras offered with compliments.
