In this splendidly atmospheric railway age survival it is possible to just to sit and eat and drink comfortably, or to do the same with extreme nostalgia. Not only eat but eat at rates so reasonable they make BR's prices and indigestible fare seem a grim memory. The coal fire in the tiled fireplace sets the tone and decent draught beers like Black Sheep and Timothy Taylor reinforce it. Wednesday night is curry night as the strangely modern trains come and go outside, contrasting oddly with Grade II Victorian building in which you are enjoying your gastronomic reunion with the Raj. This pub is amazing and the staff very friendly. I visited for lunch and it was gorgeous with staff on hand if you needed. I can’t wait to return.

Having recently visited the West Riding Refreshment Rooms there is only one word that can describe the quality and prices of the food served, that is 'excellent'. Recommended.
