White Apron Mediterranean Restaurant, The

The White Apron is Warrington's first fully smoke free restaurant and wine bar, situated in a Grade II listed building in the town's oldest street, Church Street, near where Oliver Cromwell once lodged. Prior to its conversion to its current incarnation it was the site of Warrington's first workhouse, which closed in 1851. They offer a frequently varying menu, ranging from different choices from the Mediterranean region to more traditional English food.

Dishes might run from a crisp pastry tart, topped with tomato, brie and thyme with a balsamic dressing to salad of smoked haddock, served with new potatoes, spring onions and finished with a lime crème fraiche dressing followed by mains such as lamb shank slowly cooked in a rosemary and mint sauce; pan fried sea bass fillets on a rocket salad with a pink grapefruit vinaigrette or roasted butternut squash risotto served with fresh coriander and parmesan.
