This rather special Southampton gastropub and boutique inn is located on the city's cosmopolitan Oxford Street, central to the historic marine district. The décor subtly reflects the building's maritime association and each of the thirteen individually styled luxury guest rooms are named after one of the White Star Lines great liners or the original J-class yachts in memory of the first America's Cup.

The contemporary restaurant offers an imaginative menu of classic modern British dishes with an emphasis on simple, fresh and high quality seasonal ingredients, so expect to find local wood pigeon breast, roasted chicory, Serrano ham and sherry vinegar emulsion; grilled South Coast plaice, Lymington samphire and pursalane, and minted new potatoes, and vanilla pannacotta with blueberry compote and basil sugar.

The White Star Tavern has been awarded 2 Rosettes for food and 5 stars for their accommodation from the AA and also boasts of being the only Southampton venue in the Which? Good Food Guide 2010.
