Whitstable Oyster Fishery Co
Horsebridge Road, Whitstable, CT5 1BU
The Kentish town of Whitstable is best known for offshore harvesting of oysters and Whitstable Oyster Fishery Company is one of Europe's oldest commercial ventures to have exported oysters across the Roman Empire during their occupation of Britain. Its attractive location in the Royal Native Oyster Stores, a singularly appealing weather-worn down building on the seafront - has a pleasant interior split into a bar, the Dredgermans court and the well renowned Fish Restaurant. It comes as no surprise that most dishes have a pan-fried squid, oysters or whiting well to the fore. That apart you could expect the likes of four char-grilled razor clams with garlic and butter and whole roast local sea bass with rosemary, to feature on the menu. The Kentish town of Whitstable is best known for offshore harvesting of oysters and Whitstable Oyster Fishery Company is one of Europe's oldest commercial ventures to have exported oysters across the Roman Empire during their occupation of Britain. Close with, perhaps, a white chocolate cheesecake with raspberry coulis or a sticky toffee pudding with pecan sauce.

REVIEWS OF Whitstable Oyster Fishery Co
Tom Masters (28 July 2008)
We visited the restaurant this weekend and were appalled by the service we received. It took 20 minutes to order a drink and the restaurant wasn't even full. When the food did arrive, in two of six dishes the fish was under cooked and raw by the bone. When returned we heard nothing back for 10 minutes so decided to leave. An absolute shambles! Looking at the selection of fish and prices on the menu I was looking forward to dinner at Whitstable, but the food was uninspired and seriously overpriced.
Anne Brown (29 June 2008)
I felt the prices are way too high and the food is below average. The members of staff were also unfriendly.
