Williams & Brown Tapas
48 Harbour Street, Whitstable, CT5 1AQ
In many ways Whitstable, home to the blessed oyster, is a natural for offering a haven to the spread of the tapas movement, with its love of all things from the sea. However the quality and range of what is on offer, combined with the elegance of the surroundings is more than sufficient justification in itself for this welcome addition to the scene. Good tapas bars seem to be gaining a reputation for the use of authentic ingredients, and this one is no exception. On offer are such delicacies as black pudding with chickpeas, raisins and pinenuts, Manchego cheese with quince, pata negra ham, with £4 for tapas and £8 for larger plates. And there's not a bullfight poster in sight. In many ways Whitstable, home to the blessed oyster, is a natural for offering a haven to the spread of the tapas movement, with its love of all things from the sea. REVIEWS OF Williams & Brown Tapas
Sue Kelly (10 December 2006)
Amazing food. Pleasant atmosphere and good service. This place is small and you take your chance on getting a table. However, once seated you can enjoy a range of superb dishes. It is not cheap and unless you choose wisely and share, you can run up a big bill. But it is worth it as the quality of the dishes is superior to almost all other restaurants in Whitstable. The tomato bread is very good and the honeyed goat's cheese is a must. All seafood dishes are expertly prepared and served plainly but the emphasis is on taste. If you are in Whitstable and see a nice table free (rare!), then don't hesitate.
