Wong Kei is a legendary Chinatown restaurant, legendary that is for its rude staff. However, it is this rather comical element that attract diners every bit as much as the food does. On arrival you'll be briskly ushered upstairs to one of the upper dining floors and have a menu immediately thrust upon you and expected to order almost simultaneously. The food here is of reasonable rather than exceptional quality but the low prices bring loyal customers back time and time again. Reviewed by Linda Buttle

How funny, my wife and I have a similar experience to Pauline, even with our favourite dish - the sweet and sour chicken. When we lived overseas, we used to 'accidently' get back to London now and then just to end up eating at Wong Kei!

I was first introduced to the Wong Kei in 1986, working in London at the time it was a great place to eat a quick lunch, left absolutely full for under £4. The food is 100% consistent; it serves household favourites for English palates but also genuine Chinese dishes. I can recommend every dish, can't pick a favourite as everything I try is delicious. My children were taken from birth and now enjoy many traditional dishes and use chopsticks as easily as a knife and fork. The service is quick and considering the amount of diners, it’s always accurate. A great experience, and a must visit.
