Woodlands - Chiswick

Part of the well established Woodlands chain, with outlets in India, Singapore and other parts of London, this vegetarian restaurant offers mainly South Indian delicacies, with a few North Indian dishes featured.

Established in 2002 with five branches now in operation, this restaurant is a popular destination for individual or group dining. The ambience is cosy, with its wooden carvings and burnt orange décor, while the service is friendly and efficient.

Among their signature dishes are steamed idlis and shallow fried dosas, made from a fermented mixture of rice and lentils, there are other temptations like chats - a piquant combination of chick pea straws, boiled potatoes, tomatoes, onions and tamarind and green chutneys. Uttapam, the Indian version of pizza, appears with various toppings. There are also full fledged set meals and a la carte combination of mild or spiced rice dishes.

Woodlands offers great value for money and has had many a carnivore leave after a meal, pleasantly surprised at not missing meat or fish.
