Y Mochyn Drwg Description
Y Mochyn Drwg is a small family run restaurant in Newport, Pembrokeshire, where chef Alastair Vaan and his wife Louise provide a personal and informal dining experience. Alastair has a self-professed passion for food and spends hours searching out the highest quality local produce to use in his exciting dishes. Locally sourced foods such as rare breed meats, artisan cheese, fresh local seafood and much more form the building blocks for the rapidly changing short menus, which are accompanied by an interesting European wine list.
Each course is beautifully cooked and exquisitely presented, which should make your visit to Y Mochyn Drwg - Welsh for The Naughty Pig - a very special experience, examples might include smoked mackerel and leek tartlet to start, followed by braised blade and roasted sirloin of Longhorn beef, thyme and mustard carrots and dumplings and finishing with chocolate fondant with gorse flower ice cream.
Y Mochyn Drwg also runs events and food courses throughout the year, just contact the restaurant for details.

I ate there recently with my partner and although the food was absolutely delicious and cannot be faulted, I was left with a slight bad taste in my mouth due to the distinct lack of ambience and slight pretentiousness of the place.
Elaine Rosenthal (11 June 2008)
We decided to get away from London and spend a weekend in West Wales. We stayed in Newport, Pembrokeshire and since we didn’t know the area, a Bijoux restaurant took our fancy - Y Mochyn Drwg. The menu was simple but there was an extensive wine list and we thought we would give it a try. The food was delicious, fresh and beautifully cooked. The Welsh lamb was to die for! The delightful young couple who run the restaurant, Alastair being the chef and Louise, were very attentive and gave us great recommendations. One of our party thought the lemon tart was the 'best in the world'. If you want a great meal, visit this restaurant and tell them Elaine sent you. You won’t be disappointed.
