Ziani

45 Radnor Walk, London, SW3 4BP

Chelsea may have well turned into a warren of Italian restaurants, but Ziani's Restaurant has more to do with Venetia bringing out some remarkable favourites from the region. Located in a quiet street in the heart of this enduringly busy shopping mecca, the easy-on-the-eye décor with clean lines and minimalist furnishings provides a welcome respite after a tiring day out. Every Italian menu is worth leafing through, but for this one the sheer variety is overwhelming, starting with the appetizers that embrace everything from raw fillet steak and cold baby cuttlefish to baked aubergine and Parma ham. Pastas are a mainstay in any Italian kitchen and if you'd wish to keep it straightforward, try the lasagne al forno.

The strong Venetian accent is evident in dishes such as thin strips of calf's liver cooked with onions and red wine vinegar, while pancakes filled with mascarpone cream, topped with crushed almond biscuits and Tia Maria could be the right answer for you dessert whimsy.

REVIEWS OF Ziani

Mrs C. A. Monro (25 October 2008)

This is authentic Italian food. The staff are funny, polite and extremely professional.

John Palmer (26 May 2008)

I have been going to this restaurant for years. The food is always delicious, and I am amazed that it never ever seems to appear in any food guides. It is open every day and is always nicely busy. The staff are welcoming and the place is frequented by lots of trendy regulars, both during my favourite lunch time and dinner. The owner and maitre’d Roberto never forgets a face, and in my experience, is always on duty. I love the mozzarella in carrozza, the pasta e fagioli soup, and all the pasta dishes, which are delicious. The grigliata mista di pesce is yet another favourite. Honestly, I have never eaten there and been disappointed - a seriously firm favourite.
