Ziba at Racquet Club
Hargreaves Building, 5 Chapel Street, Liverpool, L3 9AG
Ziba was established in 1997 but moved in 2003 to the ground floor of the Racquet Club Hotel on Chapel Street, opposite the Liver Building. The building is a magnificent Victorian gem built in the form of a Venetian Palazzo by a Liverpool merchant in 1857. The restaurant benefits from large arched windows in a big airy space with an adjacent cosy bar. James Morgan a young, talented and very enthusiastic chef, has recently been put in charge of the kitchen, aiming to boost quality and add extra flair to the traditional food served. A typical meal could begin with rabbit, broad bean pancetta and grain mustard fricassee; Claremont farm asparagus with pan fired duck egg and smoked Cecina de Leon beef; pan fried Goosnargh corn fed chicken livers with spiced pancetta and baby leaf salad; goats cheese and red pepper wrapped in leek with pickled beetroot and balsamic reduction.Ziba was established in 1997 but moved in 2003 to the ground floor of the Racquet Club Hotel on Chapel Street, opposite the Liver Building. REVIEWS OF Ziba at Racquet Club
Foody (18 September 2008)
What an amazing evening from start to finish. The food was out of this world and we met the chef in the corridor on the way out and discussed our meal. For such a young chef, he was so polite and on the pulse with todays trend of food. Excellent – we will definitely go back as long as the chef is there.
S Williams (21 August 2007)
My colleagues and I had an excellent lunch yesterday. Despite arriving late the food and service were first class. Fixed price of £15 per person for three courses with restricted choices of the main menu seemed to be good. In my opinion, that represents outstanding value for money. I have eaten at Ziba for many years both at the old and new locations. I always tell myself I should go more often. I recommend Ziba if you put high quality food as your top requirement.
